Sidebar Features

The Shopping Helper Sidebar provides the easiest way to manage your shopping lists, favorite store lists and product alerts. You can also initiate searches to Pronto.com from here. The sidebar can be opened by any of the following methods:

The sidebar contains four major sections, each of which is discussed in the sections below. Three of these sections are organized using a hierarchical tree arrangement. The two main ways to interact with these trees is to either double-click and item, or to right click on an item. Double-clicking performs the default action for that item, where the default actions are defined below. Right-clicking will display a pop-up context menu, whose menu item choices depend on the item, but generally provide all the useful list management features.

Shopping List Tree

The top-level items represent your Shopping Lists, while the second level items are the individual products in the list. Right clicking on either of these will give a pop-up context menu with choices for managing each type of element. The default action that is initiated by double-clicking are:

Search Box

The Search Box area of the sidebar consists of a text box for your search terms, a search submit button, and a drop-down list to constrain your search to a specific set of stores. The searches are done against Pronto.com's product index.

The drop-down menu has a default selection that will search across the more than 60,000 stores in Pronto.com's index. You can alternatively select one of your Favorite Store lists to only search those stores, or select the 'Search All Favorites', to search against all the stores in all your favorite store lists.

Product Alerts Tree

The alerts tree only shows up in the sidebar when there is at least one Product Alert event. Alert events persist until you explicitly clear them, which can be done by right-clicking on the item and choosing 'remove' from the pop-up context menu.

The top-level items represent a single product from one of your Shopping Lists, while the second level items are the individual alert events for that product. Double clicking either of these will open the Product Alert Viewer showing the details of the alert events.
